On Surviving Without a Refrigerator

Use With Conviction

It will happen. The cooling unit fails, the planet is unreasonably warm, and you are left with salt, an acid of some description, and whatever grew nearby that did not try to eat you first. This is not a crisis. This is a brine waiting to be specified.

The rule is simple: more salt buys more time. A heavier hand on the brine slows the universe down long enough for you to find proper refrigeration, a rescue ship, or — at minimum — a better planet. The Guide recommends tasting frequently and trusting your tongue over your hopes.

BRINEBOT-7: "Salt is just patience you can measure. Add patience. Wait. Survive. Repeat."
Cross-reference · Vol. I: The "Temperature = 0" cold brine (Brine No. 005) is your most reproducible field option when heat cannot be trusted.

1 "Whatever grew nearby that did not try to eat you first" is, legally, a vegetable.
